Wanting to expand their aquatic capabilities past simple interdiction, the Sestan Triumvirate commisioned a full-sized warship for use by the maritime arm of the Navy. The Ursa-class assists with anti-starship and anti-aircraft defense, as well as traditional naval warfare.
The Ursa is 120 meters from stem to stern. It isn’t particularly durable, with relatively thin armor and weak shields. It relies primarily on its point defense for survivability, though this makes it particularly vulnerable to direct fire weapons such as cannons. It carries 10 ion beam point defense cannons, which give it excellent anti-aircraft capability. Despite its large size, it is fairly quick, at 48 knots. It can keep up with most other aquatic warships, even those of more advanced races.
For ship-to-ship capability, it is armed with two capital-scale proton bolt cannons, capable of trading fire with peer warships, and even threatening small starships, as well as being useful for the bombardment of shore targets. For taking out submersible targets, it is armed with a single torpedo tube, firing heavy antiship warheads. These weapons are designed not only to take out submersible vessels, but also as defense against the massive aquatic creatures that inhabit the depths of Sestus’ oceans.
The Ursa-class is the most powerful terrestrial vehicle in the Triumvirate’s arsenal, capable of going toe-to-toe with the all but the largest ultraheavy units of other nations. It serves as their strongest deterrent against large scale planetary invasion.
