The ta’kesh are the newest members of galactic society, having only mastered space flight in the past 200 years. Even more primitive than humanity, they are a divided people, grouped into small tribes that bicker with each other in violent power struggles. Most ta’kesh value power and strength over all else, and will follow anyone who displays it. Power can quickly change hands if the ruler of one tribe slays another in ritual combat; the fallen leader’s followers will usually swear allegiance to the victor, massively increasing not only their social standing, but the amount of power they can bring to bear against their enemies.
Physically imposing, ta’kesh have immense strength, and on average grow to be over nine feet tall. They have a thick coat of fur to protect them from the freezing tundras where they developed on their homeworld of Tyris. They are clearly carnivorous, possessing powerful jaws and long claws on their digits. Their bestial appearance, coupled with their large size, is quite intimidating to most species, and ta’keshi warriors are often considered some of the most formidable ground troops in the galaxy.
However, despite their ferocity, most organizations do not take the ta’kesh seriously, given their fractious nature and their low tech level. The occasional raid will catch a colony off guard every once in a while, but a retaliatory strike against the offending tribe will usually be enough to make them reconsider their targets from then on.
