Keeping in line with their tradition of fast, hard-hitting ground vehicles, ta’keshi aquatic combat units follow a similar principle. The Piranha is used for launching devastating alpha strikes on their targets, then pulling back before the enemy can muster a defense.
The Piranha is quite quick, capable of hitting speeds of 76 knots. They are maneuverable enough to dodge fire from heavy weapons, but lack the heavy armor necessary to absorb heavy fire from defensive turrets. A squadron of Piranhas will often fire a spread of torpedoes from outside of a ship’s point defense range and peel off; even if the torpedoes do not lock on, the sheer volume of fire will ensure hits.
In addition to its twin torpedo launchers, these boats carry a pair of 24.5mm machine gun turrets for defensive purposes. They are moderately effective at countering enemy boats, and can be used against infantry on the shore, but they are useless against more heavily armed targets.
Piranhas are deployed on worlds with significant maritime defenses, sent in ahead of the main raiding party to clear aquatic warships that might threaten inbound aircraft. Their use is limited, but their importance when a tribe is up against heavy maritime forces cannot be overstated
