The Liberty battlecrusier is the mainline capital warship of the ISP. Charged with defending against major incursions into ISP space, most Liberty-class vessels are grouped into three defensive fleets that patrol the innermost systems of the Perseus Arm.
A general combat ship, it is designed to go toe-to-toe with other heavy warships in pitched battle. At 6,350 meters long, it is the largest vessel in the ISP navy, and has the armament to match. Equipped with 80 quad rail guns, the Liberty can deliver torrential volleys of fire against its enemies.
The Liberty is primarily a defensive warship, and as such is very well-protected. In addition to heavy armor and shielding, it is engineered with multiple redundant critical systems, such as life support and power generation. Armed with 250 rotary cannons and 250 anti-fighter railguns firing WASP rounds, the Liberty’s point defenses are particularly strong, able to withstand concentrated bomber or torpedo attack.
The vessel’s size and mass make it ponderous, however, with a paltry acceleration of 2.5 G’s. It also suffers from a serious lack of maneuverability, though this is somewhat alleviated by the ship’s excellent firing arcs.
Though the Liberty-class sees little use in the usual pirate and smuggler interdiction the ISP navy generally carries out, these powerful battlecruisers stand ready to defend the ISP from invasion by a peer opponent.
