The HTX is the mainline armored unit of the Collective. Maneuverable and well-protected, this tank is a deadly foe in any large-scale conflict, whether on open ground or in tight, restricted terrain.
The HTX’s primary weapon is a heavy magstream cannon, mounted on a rotating turret. This powerful weapon uses linear impulse generators to propel a tightly focused stream of molten tungsten at a fraction of the speed of light. This stream is highly effective against enemy armor, chewing through tanks as easily as a high pressure water jet through styrofoam.
Secondary weapon systems are comprised of a pair of remote controlled electron turrets, which defend the tank from lighter, faster hostiles that the main gun cannot track. In terms of durability, the tank is sheathed in 80 millimeters of carbon ceramic armor and packs a powerful gravity shield array.
Further adding to both its survivability and its lethality is the HTX’s impressive mobility. Capable of reaching a top speed of 73 miles per hour, few armored units are able to keep up with impulse tanks in battle. Their hover technology, in the form of four impulse engines on the bottom of the tank, give them exceptional maneuverability for such a massive vehicle. They can easily outmaneuver hostile armor, allowing them to not only avoid return fire, but easily get shots off on the most vulnerable parts of the enemy.
Given the nature of the HTX, it does not see much use in Collective military operations; rarely are the pirates and mercenaries they fight well enough equipped to warrant the deployment of tanks. However, when they are needed, these powerful vehicles descend upon their enemies to deliver swift and decisive punishment.
