Somewhat isolated in the outer edged of the Scutum-Centaurus Arm, the fulga don’t tend to interact much with other species. While the distance plays some part in that, the main reason for this is the civil war the species is currently mired in.
Fulga are mammalian, and covered in fur. They are bipedal, but can switch to a quadrupedal stance for extra speed. They have long snouts, resembling canids or rodents, and digitigrade legs.
Highly intelligent, fulga have developed a process for the transfer of consciousness into digital storage. This has proven extremely controversial, and was what ignited the civil war: the High Ascendancy, those who have completed the transfer, believe that all organic life is destined to become like them. Meanwhile, the Federation, the remaining organic fulga, refuse to undergo the process after seeing the result.
Both factions fight sporadic skirmishes whenever they encounter one another, though the Ascendancy has drawn back their efforts after suffering a catastrophic defeat at the hands of a combined Federation and Combine fleet early in the war.
The fulga are not particularly common throughout the galaxy, as most like to be among their own kind, for both reasons of comfort and security. Encounters with them are rare, and can prove deadly if they are Ascended. Most people steer clear of Scutum-Centaurus, due to the inherent instability of the region.
