The Condor is the primary method of infantry transportation for the Repuplic armed forces. Fast and reliable, it regularly delivers troops right into the action, even capable of deploying Shock Troopers via orbital jumps.
The passenger bay can hold up to 32 troops (though significantly less if hulking Shock Troopers are present). It even has magnetic clamps underneath the airframe, allowing it to carry a single medium vehicle, or a pair of Tomcat Scout Bikes.
The Condor is well-protected, covered in armor and equipped with a plasma shield generator. It can take quite a beating from small arms fire during landings, and can even withstand a small amount of heavy weapons fire before going down. They carry a chin-mounted light plasma cannon to cover its passengers as they disembark, and a pair of Stallion dual-purpose missile launchers for providing heavy fire support and defending itself from aircraft.
With a maximum acceleration of 152 G’s, Condors are fast enough to get in and out of combat zones with minimal risk of ground fire, but they are woefully slow compared to even the most primitive superiority fighters. As such, Condors in warzones require fighter escort to keep them safe.
The Condor is the fastest and most reliable method of troop transport in the Republic Army, and is a staple of their forces. No fleet or base does not have a few squadrons of these versatile and reliable craft on standby, ready for action.
