The CCX is a powerful warship used as the main source of the Collective Aquatic Navy’s antiship firepower. It can be found sailing in formation with carriers on worlds under the Collective’s protection.
The CCX is armed with four magsling cannons, giving it devastating antiship firepower. The CCX can tear apart enemy naval vessels at long range, and can absorb heavy fire with its powerful gravity shields and thick armor plating. Though it primarily relies on its home carrier and her aircraft compliment to provide point defense coverage, the CCX carries eight electron cannons to assist with taking out incoming fighters and missiles, should any slip past the carrier group’s outer defenses.
At 245 meters in length, the CCX outmasses most other contemporary aquatic vessels. As such, it is somewhat slow, capable of hitting 48 knots. Despite its speed disadvantage, the long range of the cruiser’s guns allow it to hit targets beyond their own range. By reducing their power, the guns can even fire in ballistic arcs to give them over-the-horizon capability.
These powerful ships give Collective maritime forces the majority of their bite, acting as the general muscle. They are arguably more important than the carriers themselves, as they are responsible for the actual destruction of the enemy, and not just the protection of the fleet.
