A common sight in Commonwealth space, the Bloodhound patrols in groups of 3, using their long range sensor suites to scan for potential threats. Generally used as the heavy hitters in interdiction operations, these vessels will support larger destroyers in pitched battle in times of war.
At 800 meters long, the Bloodhound is the smallest class of frontline warship used by the Commonwealth, and as such is armed with a 2,000 mm spinal mass driver as its primary weapon. This deadly weapon has a maximum effective range of 300,000 kilometers, and hits with a force of just under 16 gigatons.
In addition to its mass driver, the Bloodhound has 14 six-tube missile launchers for ship-to-ship combat. It has very heavy defenses, made up of not only its graphene armor plating and polarity shields, but its 24 point defense missile launchers and its 30 sand cannons, used for shooting down incoming fightercraft and guided ordnance. It is also equipped with a hangar, with storage space for 24 Hawk Starfighters, which assist in reconnaisance and combat.
With a maximum speed of 8.6 G’s, the Bloodhound is fairly quick for a ship its size, able to keep pace with small pirate sloops and freighters at sublight. Though not particularly maneuverable, the vessel is able to keep its targets within weapons range, and continuously hammer them until they’ve been destroyed or disabled.
