The Beacon-class Cutter is the most prolific of the Collective Navy’s ships. Often patrolling the galaxy alone, these ships search out instances of violence and injustice among the stars. Once a cutter has found a target for the Collective, it isn’t long before a carrier group is descending on them.
At 650 meters in length, the Beacon is the tiniest of the Collective’s military vessels. It lacks heavy anti-capital weaponry, armed only with a pair of photon interceptor turrets and 14 electron turrets for defensive meausres. Its most useful tool is its powerful sensor suite, which allows it to perform detailed scans of its surroundings.
Equipped with powerful sublight engines, the Beacon has a maximum acceleration of 20 G’s, which is unheard of for capital ships. It is almost twice as fast as human equivalent vessels., and can even outfly primitive corvettes. This speed makes it ideal for its scouting role, allowing it to get in and out of hot spots quickly and with minimum risk.
The Beacon-class performs a vital role, one that is considered just as important as those fulfilled by the Collective’s deadly carrier groups, or their immense Havenships.
